Put On

I love to write on the subject of Christian Rap/Holy Hip Hop. The reason being is because it has such an impact on my life. I constantly feel the need to fill my ears with this music. It has gotten to the point that, it's all I want to hear anymore. In my eyes this is a great thing since the mainstream radio is filled with music that spreads negativity and fornication.

There is one song that has had a large impact on my life. The song is titled "Put On", this song is from the Captured album by the artist Flame. Flame started his music career under the Cross Movement Records label. He put out 4 albums on that label. His 5th album though was released as the first album on his own label Clear Sight Records. The next morning after it's debut it was the most downloaded Christian rap album on iTunes.

The song that I speak of is really eye opening. He speaks of taking off the old and putting on the new. Which is referred to in Ephesians chapter 4 verses 22-34 it addresses taking off the old man and putting on the new man. Many of us struggle on a daily basis with letting go of the old and taking in the new about ourselves. Christ said that in order for a person to become new, they must take off the old. This song helps one to be able to do this task.

It reminds us of how much of a struggle it us but how we can accomplish it with faith and belief. The album itself is full of great songs. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Christian rap music. This song in particular is just a favorite of mine. Not to mention the beat is truly banging!! Check out for yourself and see. I hope that it helps you as well as it has helped me. I cant wait to see what is next to come for the label Clear Sight. Flame has definitely started it off right with such a great album.

Sheila,

Absolutely! This track is just insane. When I was first introduced to Flame back in 2005, he was in heavy rotation in my CD player.

Shannon,

Very inspiring hub, and it's great to know that this genre of music has such a hold on your life. Music is a powerful tool, so it may as well be wholesome and helpful to one's spirit.
